A Texas pastor who sparked outrage by praising the Pulse nightclub massacre and calling the victims “perverts and pedophiles” has been ousted amid allegations of prostitution, gambling and marijuana use, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Donnie Romero left his post at Stedfast Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, last week, according to the newspaper. He will continue to be part of the congregation.

Romero’s comments shortly after the June 12, 2016, shooting at the Orlando club were widely condemned. The attack left 49 people dead and dozens more wounded.

“They’re the scum of the earth, and the earth is a better place now, and I’ll take it a step further,” Romero said at the time. “I’ll pray to God like I did this morning, and I will again tonight, that God will finish the job that that man started.”
