Orange County issues rabies alert for area near Epcot

The Florida Department of Health in Orange County has issued a 60-day rabies alert for an area near Walt Disney World.

The alert issued on July 8 was declared after a cat was confirmed to have the virus that can be fatal to humans. The warning area is for a 2-mile radius in southwest Orange County around the intersection of Interstate 4 and Epcot Center Drive.

The alert warns people to avoid all wild and domestic cats or dogs, and if bit or scratched by a wild animal to seek immediate medical treatment.
