in Central Florida News & Events

John Kalish is the founder, President and CEO of A Hero For Kids Foundation. The foundation is tax-exempt under the provisions of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code. The foundation supports initiatives that positively impact our community. This is accomplished by partnering with like-minded individuals, organizations, first responders, public and private schools, city and state agencies, Veteran’s groups and non-profits.

John firmly believes in service above self and in addition to being a United States Army Veteran, he has over 35 years of volunteer work in his background. After several years as a Director with Goodwill Industries of Central Florida, he left February 2019 to focus full time on the foundation and his passion of serving and working with children, Veterans and first responders.

John and A Hero For Kids have received the Saint Cloud Chamber of Commerce Non-Profit of the Quarter Award; the United States Marine Corps Commanders Award for the 2017 record breaking Toys For Tots campaign; and The 2018 News 6 WKMG Getting Results Award…along with a number of certificates and letters of appreciation.

In 2018, A Hero For Kids participated in 57 community and school events donating over 15,000 children’s books and thousands of stuffed animals. Our Holiday Initiative last year resulted in 242 local children receiving toys and 60 families getting holiday meals. Our Back-2-School drive provided school supplies to 300 local children.
